Welton Primary is a semi rural school providing an education for children from the ages of four to eleven. We also have a Pre-School on site, which welcomes children from the age of two years, an after-school club for school age children until 6pm and a Breakfast Club from 8am.
The school was opened in 1899 and has a proud history of serving the communities of Welton, Midsomer Norton and the surrounding area. Our building has been extensively renovated over the last ten years. We have seven classrooms, each one having an Interactive Whiteboard, a large hall with multimedia system, and library/work space. Laptops and iPads are used by all children to support their learning with school wide WiFi. Outside, we have a large playing field, a playground where our children play ball games and another playground where they use “Huff & Puff” play equipment. We also have a timber trail, nature area and outdoor classroom. We have been awarded the ‘Healthy Schools Plus’ standard, the Inclusion Quality Mark, the Basic Skills ‘Quality Mark’ and the Activemark for sports. We are working on the Learning to Lead initiative and towards the Director of Public Health Award.
The school is situated on the main road between Radstock and Midsomer Norton and backs onto open fields and the Wellow Brook. Access to the school is via Radstock Road entrance or the footpath from Rock Road and Welton Vale. The school is part of the ‘Safer Routes to School’ project and as such encourages children to walk or cycle to school.
We provide high quality education within a caring atmosphere. Visitors to the school always comment on the wonderful 'feel' of the school. Feel free to make contact and pay us a visit - we'd love to show you around!
