Prospectus

Welton Primary is a semi rural school providing an education for children from the ages of four toeleven. We also have a Pre-School on site, which welcomes children from the age of two years, anafter-school club for school age children and a Breakfast Club.

The school was opened in 1899 and has a proud history of serving the communities of Welton, Midsomer Norton and the surrounding area. Our building has been extensively renovated over the last ten years. We now have seven classrooms, each one having an Interactive Whiteboard, a large hall with multimedia system, staffroom, library and a completely re-furbished ICT suite. Outside, we have a large playing field, a playground where our children play ball games and another playground where they use “Huff & Puff” equipment. We also have a timber trail. We have been awarded the ‘Healthy Schools’ standard, the Inclusion Quality Mark, the Basic Skills ‘Quality Mark’ and the Activemark for sports.

The school is situated on the main road between Radstock and Midsomer Norton and backs onto open fields and the Wellow Brook. Access to the school is via Radstock Road entrance or the footpath from Rock Road and Welton Vale. The school is part of the ‘Safer Routes to School’ project and as such encourages children to walk or cycle to school (once they have passed their Cycling Proficiency test).

The atmosphere is that of a ‘village’ school providing a high quality of education within a caring atmosphere.
